I've been a pretty dedicated user for a while, but I think I've finally hit my limit. It's always something. Either the servers are down with the dreaded "failed to fetch" error right when a conversation is getting good, or I'm trying to figure out why the memory suddenly forgets a whole backstory we built over days.

The real kicker was last month. I hooked up a third-party API to get better responses and got hit with a surprise bill for over $100. For a chat bot. I just can't justify the constant troubleshooting and the unpredictable costs anymore.

I'm not looking for a massive library of community characters necessarily, I just want something reliable. Something where the memory actually works past 30 messages, I don't need a CS degree to set it up, and I'm not terrified of a surprise bill or a sudden policy change.

I stumbled across AIAngels in my search. The comparison page makes it sound like exactly what I'm after (fixed price, permanent memory, no API keys), but I'm always skeptical of marketing claims.

Has anyone here actually switched to it from Janitor? Is the conversation quality and freedom actually there, or is it just another "too good to be true" situation? Would love to hear some real experiences before I commit to anything.
