Is it possible to find a mentor in this city?

I am studying for my master's degree in Manchester and I feel so alone in my research. My topic is super complex and my advisor is never available to meet. I have been walking around the library trying to find someone who understands my work. I was so desperate today that I actually looked for a dissertation tutor Manchester just to talk to someone. Does anyone else feel isolated in their studies?
