Do rest days actually improve results or just slow you down?

I’ve been curious about something lately , does the environment you train in really matter? Some days I lift at the usual gym and feel fine, but when I switch to a different gym or even just a quieter spot at home, my focus and energy seem completely different. Could small changes like lighting, music, or space actually affect strength and endurance, or is it mostly in my head?
